Friday Favorites - Fall Edition

Happy Friday everyone!!!

It's Friday and that means it's time for some Friday Favorites!

Today's edition is all about fall. I love fall and it's my favorite season! There are so many things I love about fall. I'll only share a few since I could go on forever.

1. Let's start off with the changing of the leaves.

How could you not love looking at the beautiful fall colors? We usually go up north to see the changing of the leaves but this year I think we went too early so I didn't get any great pictures of the leaves. But we had some good colors around our neighborhood.

Here's our tree outside our house:

2. Football

We are huge Iowa Hawkeye fans in this family!! They are also having a fantastic year so that is AMAZING!! Here's my girls dressed in Iowa gear!

Who's your favorite team?

3. Halloween

I have always loved Halloween and dressing up. Bella is 3 now and this year she really got to enjoy Halloween. She loved dressing up and going trick or treating. Brooklyn didn't understand it fully this year but next year I'm sure she'll get it more. My work also put on a trick or treat event that we could bring our kids in and meet other kids and do some fun Halloween activities.

4. Pumpkin Patches

Pumpkin patches are always fun!! Despite the cold temps and high winds, the girls had a great time. Most of my time was spent chasing Brooklyn. The child has no fear. She's not afraid to get hurt, go up to strangers or touch anything. She requires constant supervision. Total opposite from my oldest. My oldest, Bella, is too shy to talk to strangers and knows what she should and shouldn't do. But either way, we had a great time looking at pumpkins and getting caramel and apples as well as visiting the bakery.

5. Thanksgiving

No pictures of Thanksgiving yet... since it's too early. :)

But it's still one of my favorite things about fall. I love getting together with family and cooking a bunch of food. It's a good time to catch up with family we don't see all the time.

This year we are doing Thanksgiving at my mom and dad's around noonish and then heading to my sister-in-laws for Thanksgiving with my husband's family in the evening. The girls love seeing all their cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents.

6. Starting to Plan for Christmas!!

I've already started planning for Christmas. I have to get a jump start on brainstorming ideas for gifts otherwise I will go crazy the last couple weeks. I love planning what to get for everyone, what baking I'm going to do, what outfits the girls are going to wear etc.

But most importantly my girls are getting old enough to really understand the meaning of Christmas. They are starting to learn about Jesus and how Christmas is to celebrate his birth. Another big thing I'm trying to teach my girls is the love of giving. Not everyone is fortunate to have a roof over their head, food on the table and clothes to wear. Let alone those kids having toys to play with and to just be kids.

This year I'm purging the toys!! I want to find a youth shelter or a women and family shelter or something that we can donate gently used toys to. The girls are out growing so many of their toys and with Christmas they will get more from family. Not only do I want to purge toys to make room for new ones, but I want to teach the girls about giving and being thankful for what you have.

Any one else do this? Where do you donate your toys to?

What are you favorite things about fall? I'd love to hear from you!

That's all for now!

I'll be back Monday.
